This week we launched the new CoServ.com!
CoServ has a unique business model – CoServ is a not-for-profit Electric cooperative that works hand in hand with CoServ gas, a for-profit gas utility.
Also, CoServ is owned by its customers. As the second largest electric co-op in Texas, CoServ Electric’s customers are also members of the cooperative. Customers have a voice to vote on the leadership of the company, and receive capital credits, which are similar to stock dividends for shareholders.
CoServ came to RD2 with a website made up of:
- A design in need of a refresh
- Content that was extensive, but difficult for users to navigate through
- A workflow that made it difficult for CoServ to keep the site updated
Perhaps more importantly, CoServ came to us with a community of North Texas customers who all have similar priorities when it comes to their power utility – they want fast customer service, user friendly account management, and when it comes to the bill… more for their money.
We began the process with a thorough strategic engagement. We examined CoServ’s business, industry, customers, and strategic goals to outline a plan of action for CoServ to execute to enhance its online presence.
The first phase of this plan is the new CoServ.com. The site combines what used to be multiple domains into one place for CoServ customers to find information on Customer Service, Conservation, and what it means to be a member of a cooperative. The site utilizes DotNetNuke, an open source Content Management System built in .NET to allow CoServ to easily create and update content.
Behind the login, users will find a redesigned account panel that will allow users more control over their utility accounts, and the ability to view and pull consumption and transaction reports. On the back end, this panel interacts with multiple business practices to display pertinent customer data seamlessly.
We love working with CoServ because they have such a strong desire to improve the online experience for their community. They specifically expressed that they want their new site to be held to the standards of the best of the web. Special thanks to the many team members who were a part of this project in one way or another. They have all worked very hard, and are excited about what’s still to come!
