When will you read this?

Several years ago, we did some high-level research to find out the optimal day of the week and time of day to post content. When are users most actively online reading blogs, browsing websites, exploring social media networks, etc.? To get a fresh and more current idea on these stats, we browsed through some more recent studies.

Day of Week

According to an article on Daily Blog Tips, recent studies have found that Monday and Tuesday are the most highly trafficked days of the week. Similarly, the optimal days of the week to post content or share links on Facebook (to maximize click-through rate) are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, according to a recent report published by Virtual SRM.

Interestingly, Twitter is close to opposite. The team at HubSpot conducted a study of over 500 million Twitter accounts and found that the top ReTweet days are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There were more tweets occurring on Thursdays and Fridays and little activity over the weekend.

Time of Day

Equally important is the time of day at which you choose to post. Business Insider published an article titled “Lunchtime is the New Primetime”. They found that between 12 pm Eastern Time and 3 pm Pacific Time, most people in North America are looking for a break from their day and more likely to browse content online.

This post is a little research of our own, so thanks for participating! We’ll follow up on what we find!
