A few weeks ago, we hired a couple of weblog junkies. I was intrigued by the fact that I was able learn so much about these guys just by reading their weblogs. Pretty interesting stuff. Full of interesting random topics as well as a wealth of interesting technical information. So, after bringing these guys in, I began to really become more aware of various weblogs on the internet. As an internet junkie myself, I have been a little surprised that I have been living in the dark as to the opportunities that weblogs present to companies of all shapes and sizes.
It only took about a week before we had our very own weblog. With a little help from an open source product called Word Press and some rather experienced bloggers, we were off to the races with what I am proud to call the RD2 Blog.
As an interactive agency, RD2 encounters technical issues on a daily basis. As a knowledge repository, RD2 Blog over time is something that I hope will become a wealth of information about what we do. Sure there are things that we do that we feel are proprietary and we certainly don’t give away our client’s trade secrets however, there’s just so much information about the web and about applications that we create that are very general in nature. There’s hardly a reason not to share a little information that might help a fellow techno junkie get to bed a little more quickly because a predecessor was thoughtful enough to document the resolution to a problem that might resurface later.
As a design firm, we need an outlet to extend our creative thinking to our constituents in a way that stimulates our creative synapses. I hope that an outlet such as this assists our people even if just providing an outlet for alternative energy. Extending our thoughts and sharing our interests in this new and very simple medium.
We hope you enjoy your readings. We hope that maybe even somehow this weblog helps some of you in different ways. As for me, I will try to resist the temptation to keep things business focused and make a few entries on alternative topics. Maybe even a few entries someday about cycling, my favorite sport…
