STA Travel – World Traveler Internship 2011 Website

Every year STA Travel chooses two Interns from a group of applicants and sends them around the world for the summer. Along the trip the Interns take photos, record videos, share updates via Twitter, and blog, sharing all of the content on the World Traveler Internship website.

In 2011, the itinerary included 16 destinations: England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Nepal, China/Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Brazil.

We added some new functionality to the 2011 website including:

  • Flowplayer Integration: We integrated Flowplayer on the website, simplifying the process for applicants to submit their videos.
  • Registration Process: To streamline the application process, we implemented a “quick registration” process that allows the user to create an account and start filling out their application without leaving the website. We’ve broken down the Application into four distinct sections.
  • Sharing Capabilities: We’ve added “Tweet” and “Facebook Like”, seeing a lot of success from other campaigns we’ve worked on with the STA Travel team including Change Your Perspective and Eat, Pray, Love.
  • Interactive Trip page: Check out the Trip page and hover over a push pin to view details on each destination.
