Elbowz Racing Team

Mar 29 2011

Really proud of these Texans who are making a go at a regional cycling team. Ben Spies and Nick Kiernan are running the new Elbowz racing team and they are kicking butt and taking names. Already this season the team has a great number of victories under their belts. Personally, I’ve had the chance to interact with these guys as we have been designing their uniforms and taking their photos. Can’t imagine a cooler group of racers.

Ben Spies is a professional MotoGP racer on the Yamaha team. He’s got an amazing resume and you can now watch him on the Speed channel on most Sunday’s. Ben has been able to bring to the table some awesome sponsors to achieve his vision of helping to develop the young racing talent around here. It’s very admirable from my perspective as I used to be a racer who did everything possible just to get to the next race. It’s different now and so good to see such an amazing opportunity given to the young talent of today. How things have changed…for the better!

Nick Kiernan was put in place by his pal Ben to run the operations of the team. He’s assembled an amazing team and has worked tirelessly to herd all the cats and keep things organized. Nick’s a local legend in Texas racing and has won countless races both here and internationally. He’s the “glue” keeping everything tightly together.

Way to go guys! We at RD2 are huge fans of the Elbowz Racing Team. You are a great example of a cycling brand doing it right!
